Getting the time right is very important and even good vets make mistakes on this. According to DEFRA it’s not more than 48 hours and not less than 24 hours to check-in time. Don’t forget check-in time is 3 hours before take-off.
Basically it’s two days before the flight. Watch out for Monday and Tuesday flights as treatment will have to be done over the weekend.
You can’t go wrong if the vet uses Frontline/ Merial for (Ticks + Fleas) and Drontal/ Bayer for ( Worms) .
For worms DEFRA will also accept
Cantecol-BT, Dopracid, Droncit Comprimidos, Droncit inyectable, Drontal gatos,
Drontal Plus comprimidos, Overcid, Praziten, Tenciven Zipyran and Milbemax. Profender and Profender Spot-On for cats, Canitenol by Syva, Popantel Cat All Wormer and Popantel Dog All Wormer.
As for ticks and fleas.
Flea collars are not acceptable. Please use:
Frontline, Expot, Practic ( Spot-On), Advantix- Bayer (but not for cats) or Effipro (Vinbac)
